The water is wide
(Traditional - Galleon)

1.
The water is wide, I can't cross o'er,
Neither have I great wings to fly,
Give me a boat that will carry two,
And both shall row, my love and I.

2.
There is a ship that sails the sea,
It's loaded deep, as deep can be,
But it's not as deep as the love I'm in,
I care not if, I sink or swim.

3.
For love is handsome, and love is fair,
Fresh as a flower when first is new,
But love grows old and waxes cold,
And fades away, like morning dew.

4.
The water is wide, I can't cross o'er,
Neither have I great wings to fly,
Give me a boat that will carry two,
And both shall row my love and I.
