BLACK VELVET BAND (Traditional - Galleon)
1.
One day as I went for a ramble,
All alone by myself I did stray,
When I met with a gay young deceiver,
While walking along the byway.
Chorus:
Her eyes they shone like the diamonds,
And I thought her the queen of the land,
And her hair was thrown over her shoulder,
And tied with a black velvet band.
2.
Next day I was hunted and captured,
All alone in the dock I did stand,
I was charged with robbing and stealing,
All for loving her black velvet band.
3.
Now you lads that are sober and single,
Take fair warning from me if you can,
And beware of this girl with those blue eyes,
And her hair in a black velvet band.
